The Post Graduate Institute of Child Health (PGICH) formerly known as Super Specialty Paediatric Hospital and Postgraduate Teaching Institute ( an autonomous Institute under the Govt of UP), located in Sector 30, Noida, is a unique facility conceptualized at par with the western children hospitals to provide high quality Paediatric health care, postgraduate and postdoctoral teaching and training and molecular biological research in various branches of paediatrics and Paediatric surgery.
The Post Graduate Institute of Child Health (PGICH) formerly known as Super Specialty Paediatric Hospital and Postgraduate Teaching Institute ( an autonomous Institute under the Govt of UP), located in Sector 30, Noida, is a unique facility conceptualized at par with the western children hospitals to provide high quality Paediatric health care, postgraduate and postdoctoral teaching and training and molecular biological research in various branches of paediatrics and Paediatric surgery.Children are the future of this nation. Every child has the right to have primary and tertiary care in the country. India with a population of over 1300 million, has over 500 million children under 14 year of age and about 80-90 million of these are in Uttar Pradesh alone. Despite progress being made, almost 80% children do not have an access to the specialized medical and surgical care. Therefore it is most appropriate to develop a highly specialized centre to provide the state of the art facilities for medical care with rare diseases, surgery of the newborns, children and the adolescents, dialysis, organ transplants and research (stem cell, cyto-genetics, tissue engineering, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence) under one roof with the dedicated full time faculty, researchers and the staff.
The institute is in its infancy and developing phase, with 16 clinical and basic disciplines running the OPD, Indoors, Operation theatre, laboratory services and a radiology department. Several departments are running specialized clinics in the afternoon. Four more departments are likely to open soon. Apart from that, several new departments and centres ( Paediatric cancer centre, Bone marrow, renal and Liver transplant centre, Skill development centre, Hypospadias and DSD centre, are being planned to start in future. Once fully functional, the institute will not only train over 100 MD/MS, DM and M.Ch resident doctors but also Ph.D scholars to contribute each year to the Human capital with the highly specialized Paediatric consultants, residents and the researchers in India.
The training of the doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff is also an integrated component of this institute. Guest Lectures, symposia, seminars, CME Programs and workshops are held regularly. The institute actively participates in Government programs related to children ( Ayushman Bharat, RBSK, and others).
The faculty and the staff is committed to take this institute to greater heights and we remain open to suggestions and constructive criticism from the public in our quest for achieving excellence, keeping the specialized Paediatric care affordable so that the public is benefitted at large.
